Well it’s been a long, dull week which has not really given me much to write about!
Work has been much better with the return of our regular supervisor and I think he was very surprised with the affectionate welcome back he got on Monday. It seems he is so shell shocked from the seemingly never ending criticisms he receives from higher up the chain of command that the goodwill shown towards him on Monday set him back on his heels a little.
As a result of things returning to some sort of normality the boredom set in. I guess when you have someone to dislike and complain about like we did last week with our fill-in supervisor then the monotony of the job takes a back seat and the disdain you have for your direct superior makes the day a little less boring! I think there is a strange sort of logic in that!
So it’s been a bit of a long journey to today and the dawn of another weekend which no doubt will be too short.
I’m having a more adventurous weekend than usual travelling over to Cootamundra tomorrow to watch the big annual handicap road cycling race that is held on this weekend every year. I am travelling with my parents and from there we will continue south and stay in Wangaratta on Saturday night and venture across to Yarrawonga on Sunday morning to watch some more cycling, in this case the first stage of the Tour of the Murray River which begins with a criterium along the Lake Mulwala waterfront. From there it will be onto Cobram to see the finish of the afternoon stage. I have relatives in Yarrawonga and Cobram so it will be a good chance for my Mum and Dad and myself to see some family who we don’t get to catch up with nearly enough. And to watch some bike racing too of course!
It will be nice to get out of town for the weekend although there is a heap of work that needs to be done out in the yard but I will get to that eventually. It is that time of year that the garden gets set to explode and anyone who has seen our backyard will appreciate what a jungle it can be.
When we came here the garden was beautiful and well cared for by the previous owners. They were semi-retired and keen gardeners and had everything in tip top shape. Unfortunately Linda and I have neither the time nor the inclination to keep things up to scratch and our two dogs seem to wreck everything they touch so my only avowed aim is to keep things out there tidy.
So all in all a dull week with nothing much to talk about. Things should start looking up again tomorrow and hopefully some “blog-fodder” will come my way over the next few days.
