Wednesday, October 5, 2011, late.

It’s late. Moving on towards 11pm.
Normally I don’t write so late but Linda and the girls have gone to Sydney for the rest of the week so there is no chance I will annoy anyone with typing or with the TV when I go out to the lounge room shortly and turn it on.
They are staying in an apartment in Paddington which is owned by a woman my mother works with who only charges $50 a night for rent so Linda is there until Sunday. Not a bad holiday! I have stayed there myself and it is quite close to Oxford Street which runs down to the city so it is right in the guts of Sydney. A very nice area actually with it’s terrace houses which despite being built for the lower classes over a century ago now fetch over a million dollars in some cases! The poor blighters who lived in those dwellings before it became a bit swish would be turning in their graves at the thought of their former homes being worth a motza in the early 21st century.
I am a bit tired from work. Didn’t do anything out of the ordinary just my usual job sorting small parcels. I think the boredom wears me down plus standing for most of the day isn’t great for relaxation.
It’s spring here and I have been feeling a little off colour, bit of a headache and a bit stuffed up and was thinking I might be coming down with the flu but I am very prone to allergies and it is the right time of year for it and it is more than likely the quality of the air causing me problems than anything else.
The long weekend passed quickly as they all seem to do but we have another one coming up this weekend as I posted in my last blog entry.
I went to Floriade, Canberra’s big, annual flower show on Monday with Linda, my mother and the girls as it was such a nice day and Linda had been over in West Wyalong. I don’t really care much for the flowers I just enjoy the day out although there were a million people there, or so it seemed which certainly lessened the enjoyment. Being elbowed by the hordes all the way around the gardens or jumping out of the way of people with prams can get on the nerves after a while. However I managed to get through without being knocked over or skittled and managed to have a satisfying day.
It’s funny how time slips away. I know that’s a song as Elvis Presley use to sing it in concert but it’s true. I stumbled on some photos today of my mother and I at Floriade 4 years ago and it doesn’t seem that long.
This day last year I arrived home from visiting Geelong for the World Road Cycling Championships and that feels like it was only a couple of months back. It’s scary!
So I am going to do my best to knuckle down for the rest of the year, get through to Christmas and make 2012 as enjoyable as possible because I have, apart from a couple of small trips which only numbered a couple of days, not really had a holiday this year and as time is flying by so fast I am going to try and cram a bit in next year.
Linda and I have already factored in a New Zealand holiday in January and we have to go to my nephew’s wedding which will be held in Fiji in September and I might just try to slip another trip in somewhere along the line. Will have to talk to Linda and hopefully come up with a plan.
I want to have a bit of excitement and fun next year and forget about work whenever I can. Time is moving too quickly to be at work most of the year. Will see what I can do.
Now I’m getting tired so I might go and have something to eat, another cup of tea and see what is on TV. Until next time.
