One of the downsides of starting work at 2pm is that every time something needs to be fixed around the house I am the one that is here in the mornings waiting for tradesmen to come.
The problem I find is that they can never be exact about what time they will be at your house.
“In the morning”, or “sometime between 8 and 1!”,always seems to be the answer you get when you need to know what time to be home.
I appreciate that when you are doing house calls you can never quite be sure when you might finish up and be ready to go to your next job but it can be frustrating for the “fixee” sitting at home waiting for hours for the “fixer” to come. I do like to get off the computer and go out occasionally!
Today’s problem is Linda’s treadmill. It has been sitting in the garage for months after breaking down a couple of weeks after buying it second hand from GymQuip.
The thought of lugging onto the back of the ute and taking it all the way over to Fyshwick, getting it fixed and lugging it back didn’t appeal so I haven’t been too forthright in endeavours to get it repaired.
Linda wants to get fit so she rang GymQuip and for a $99 call out fee they will come and fix it for you.
Of course it is never that simple is it?
Two young fellows arrived mercifully early at around 9.30am. After a few minutes the problem had been located and a diagnosis made. A blown fuse.
Only they couldn’t fix it. The regular maintenance bloke was on holidays for a couple of weeks and they had another call to make at Calwell but they would try to get a fuse and come back. “We’ll give you a call amd let you know when we will be back”.
Just got the call. “It’s an unusual size and we have been to a few places and can’t get one, we may be able to come back Friday. We’ll give you a call and let you know”.
So, the waiting continues. As I said it’s never just a simple job, no matter how simple it appears.
A waste of a morning but you have these days. Such is life.
