We have reached the end (almost) of another working week and it has been an epic one!
For the first time in those last seven days I have nothing and no one to hang around for, just my own company to keep until I prepare to go to work.
The GymQuip people finally arrived around 11am yesterday and fitted a new fuse to Linda’s treadmill and got it going at last. They mentioned that the motor was worn out and it needed to have an eye kept on it. I didn’t tell them it was bought second hand from their store and had hardly been used since breaking down shortly after purchase. But therein lies a lesson for young players. Sometimes it is better to spend extra money on something up to date rather than someone else’s second hand piece of junk that is almost at the end of it’s working life.
After they left I had a quick lunch with my father and sped over to Queanbeyan to pick up Monique from school in order to get her home for a driving test then showered and was off to work. A fairly hectic morning by my standards.
Work turned into an entertaining spectacle for once with our omnipresent manager causing some disquiet and earning the wrath of our militant union rep, Tim “mad dog” Vanderkleij at a staff meeting.
Mr Ngo, our manager later earned himself more unwanted attention due to instructions he had given supervisors over how they should handle a recalcitrant member of staff and his sick leave. The advice wasn’t particularly sound and left our supervisors in a bad spot and Mr Ngo in a tough position himself trying to explain his actions.
I have a feeling this fellow has come down from Sydney thinking that life at the Canberra Mail Centre would be a cakewalk and he could do whatever he wanted only to run smack, dab into one of the most militant, unionised workforces in the NSW network. Hope he enjoys the few years he has until retirement!
So, no running around for me today just a nice relaxing morning and perhaps a bit of stroll around Wanniassa to keep the blood pumping.
The mornings go quickly and I am not the most organised person so a lot of things I plan to do never get done. Oh well. When you spend your life working eight hours, five days a week a little downtime when you have it is a present not to be wasted with other stressful matters.
It’s a great day, a sunny morning and a lovely temperature outside. Too good to be sitting inside on a computer. Have a great day!
