It has crossed my mind that it may annoy some people that when they open their Facebook page “MatthewSumner’s blog” appears. I’m sure there are at least a few of my Facebook friends that release a big sigh and lament that I am wasting bandwith and polluting the internet with more inane rubbish.
Of course rather than deleting me you can just adjust your settings so as my ramblings don’t appear in your newsfeed. Not that I have had any complaints or deletions that concern me but I like to keep on the right side of everyone.
As far as the blog itself goes, I have been struggling for inspiration. Not everyone wants to hear about the endless, mindless, boredom that befalls the pitiful souls who struggle into the Canberra Mail Centre everyday. The infinite battle to ground through the tedium and make it to the weekend, putting up with recalcitrant managers and office staff and other strange and peculiar people who inhabit the place and often cross our paths during the day may be of some passing interest to those who work there but not to the rest of the population or those who out of curiosity may take a quick look here.
I do often get some inspiration during the day when my mind wanders from the task at hand, making sure Mrs Brown from Wandilligong gets her small parcel in one piece, to something a bit interesting that I would like to write about. Of course I can’t just dash off and hijack a computer and write a piece on my life and thoughts, leaving the mail for someone else to sort. So I write in my notebook which is full of unfufilled ideas on what I could spout on about and leave it until I am free and ready to write.
Most of my ideas stay in my notebook. By the time I get ready to write I have usually moved on and lost interest in what I had come up with or realised that no one would really be interested in it anyway.
But a wandering mind certainly helps the hours go by and you would be suprised at the many and varied questions that I ask myself through the day that alleviate my boredom and and makes life at CMC seemingly move at a more rapid pace.
The stress of the workplace is one of the reasons I enjoy my mornings so much. I cleave to every minute before I have to get ready to go to work and slave over the mail again. Writing is part of that stress release.
So once again I must apologize for my ramblings and hope the appearance of a link to my blog on Facebook pages doesn’t lead to anyone thinking I’m not worth having as a friend and that one day, you might get something profitable out of my babble!
It looks like a great day outside. Hope you all have a good one.
