I’m still in New Zealand but my trip is in it’s last stages and the preparations for the trip home will begin in earnest tomorrow.
I will write a more reflective blog entry when I get home but I just wanted to check in and keep those who regularly read my blog up to date and let everyone know I am still alive and kicking.
After a slow first week the trip has really picked up and I have spent the last three days in Waikato, the King country in fact, walking the Waitomo trail, tubing down and swimming through underwater rivers in cave systems and doing walking tours looking at glow worms.
It was nice to get away after spending my first week here in Auckland and although the Waitomo caves system is heavily commercialised, it is certainly worth a visit as the glow worm displays underground are spectacular and not something you see everyday.
As I said, I will write a more conclusive entry when I get home on the weekend and try to give some reflection on this trip and of the people and cultural practices of New Zealand.
So, hoping all is well back in Australia and normal programming will resume on my blog shortly!
