A quick blog entry today, just to keep up to date.
There has been nothing much of note happening since my last post. I had a relaxing weekend, took in some culture at a handwriting exhibition which is being held at the National Library and on Sunday visited the other big exhibition in town at the moment, “Renaissance”, a selection of classic paintings by Italian renaissance artists. Also squeezed in a visit to the Canberra museum in the city, a place I have always wanted to go but never gotten around to visiting.
The handwriting exhibition was of course very interesting, however too many people in a relatively small area made it almost impossible to view so after a quick glance at a couple of examples of handwriting from people I am particularly interested in, Napoleon, Florence Nightingale, Charles Dickens to name a few, Linda and I decided that we weren’t going to keep fighting with the crowds, many of whom seemed to be pretentious types so we called it quits and will try again another day before the exhibition closes.
I must say the display in the room next door dealing with the discovery of the Australian continent and the early development of the country was perhaps even more fascinating and more of the type of thing that interests me. With only a fraction of the numbers of people viewing it as compared to the other exhibition it was a much more relaxing experience.
The National Gallery is showing the paintings of the renaissance artists and while I appreciate the beauty, skill and sheer magnificence of the works, art is not really something that blows my trumpet but I am glad I saw it.
So my weekend was quite relaxing, a birthday dinner for Linda with my family at my nephew’s restaurant in the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Club topped things off nicely.
And so, the work week is under way and Tuesday is upon us already.
I haven’t got the same dread of going to work that was infecting my conscience towards the end of last year. My five week break has probably eased my mind in that respect but the boredom is the thing that is striking me down like a Housecarl battleaxe at the moment.
That and a few other things playing on my mind have kept me off my game for a few weeks. Not much else to do but soldier on.
So, my blog today is hardly creative or informative but I have hankering to get out and break in my new hiking shoes and perhaps that is obstructing me from getting to a greater depth in my post.
So, I will take my leave, bid you all “Adieu”, and get out and stomp the pavement. Until next time.
