The fog of a grey Canberra morning has gripped the city like a well worn glove. It’s not as cool as it has been some mornings this year but the lack of sunshine has made any planned outside venture a debating point.
It’s not only the weather which is gloomy. My own piece of mind is weighted by a coating of dripping tar, making the day seem less attractive than it should and heightening the sense of foreboding that my looming encounter with my place of work always brings.
My phone line has once again decided to play up, the same old story, deepening the enmity I have for the local phone companies. I hate ringing them and enduring their questions about what might be wrong. All I want is a technician to come and look at the thing, not answer inane questions about what I may or may not have done to bring disaster to my household telecommunications network.
The internet is working at the moment, albeit very slowly which enables me to operate with some normality but I don’t know how long it will hold up. It’s seems nothing works properly in this house. Our greywater system, installed by the previous tenants is decidedly dodgy and our garage needs to be pulled down. The other small blights on the place soon add up and get you down not to mention costing money. It’s a pity. The house itself is quite nice and the area is good. I just wish those who have been here before had more intelligence when it came to maintaining their property.
So, with a somewhat agitated demeanour I move forward into the grip of the day. I hope yours turns out well.
