Linda has gone away to New Zealand for the second time in a couple of weeks. Personal business has kept her on the move across the Tasman and without going into details it is a sad duty she has to perform this time.
I dropped her at a fog-encased Canberra airport this morning and as I sit here typing the fog is still hanging about quite thickly and I am wondering how she is getting on and if she may have to take a later flight to New Zealand. I hopes she makes it without too much stress or worry.
Lately I have been derided, criticised and condemned by many readers of this blog because of it’s subjective tone. Some have suggested that I may get into trouble at my place of employment over some of it’s content, an opinion I must agree with and a matter I must put to rights.
Of course they have to catch me first and poking the devil in the eye is quite fun but I am aware that I need to turn down the volume of criticism I direct at authority and not mention their competency which may be hard to do but not impossible. My mother went so far as to suggest my blog was boring, given the constant nature of a certain subject regularly infecting it’s pages. So much for fan mail!
Thinking the matter over it may well be simply a case that I am an average person leading an average life writing about average things which, when the cart is totalled, adds up to a boring blog! An existence which many may find dull and a waste of time reading about. So be it. Even Dickens had his critics I’m sure.
In my wildest fantasies which kept me entertained as a boy, I fought pitched battles, flew in space, put out fires, dug about in subteraneann passages looking for gold, won professional bike races, kicked winning goals and destroyed the English batting line up to win the Ashes. I acted in movies, sung to the masses, lead the nation and explored strange new lands along with plenty of other episodes which kept me daydreaming through school to the detriment of homework and learning, the results turning out very poor on report cards.
So, like most of us I lead a mundane professional existence which usually doesn’t excite me but when something goes wrong or upsets me the passion flows and I have to write about it to clear my head. Thus the critical posts on my blog seem to come flooding out despite the best assurances to myself that I will no longer take part in such critical analysis of those who have been appointed to lead the ship.
I will try from here on in to be more positive, stay away from the horror perpetrated on us “floor dwellers” at CMC and concentrate more on the other activities in my life. I could of course write some tawdry tales of people I have known and the things they have done but that may be better left to another forum. Perhaps a book is the only way to record those things for posterity and the pleasures of the reading public. But we will see.
Of course this means that my blog posts may be a little farther apart than they have been so far but I don’t think the world will miss my literary genius as I wait for that mental spark to ignite my enthusiasm for writing once more.
So, until next time I shall continue to travel along my own road, making the best of the wonderful life I have been granted and try not to let the little things that get me down annoy me too much. Hope you can do the same.
