There is plenty I could or should be doing but I can’t seem to find the reserve of enthusiasm that we all need to make things happen. Maybe the switch to that tank is broken?!
The last week has seen magnificent blue skies as the year slides towards the precipice from where it will fall suddenly but surely into the abyss of winter. The last throes of good weather no doubt but my languid demeanour has seen me huddle indoors rather than enjoy this last convulsion of sun and warmth provided by the weather gods.
If I had been prone to it cycling would have been a pleasant distraction from the day to day toils of life but as usual when soaking in such a mood as I am at the moment I have been able to summon up several excuses for myself as to why my bike should stay in the shed. Too cold in the mornings. Too many pedestrians clogging the bike paths. Too hard. Things which really don’t matter and are swatted aside when dedication to pedalling is is a commitment I enjoy. Not so at the moment.
As it is I am sitting here at my computer, the sound of traffic from the main road a kilometre away is mixing with the droll cries of a distant crow who enjoys his own freedom away from any of the responsibility such as plagues us humans. The sun pours forth and my little tan staffy is exploring the backyard, rifling through trees and shrubs as if it is the first time she has ever ventured into these parts. The distant hills to the south sit solemnly and majestically, the haze of the day shrouding them but not disguising their native beauty.
All in all it is a magnificent day to be alive and I am enjoying the harmony and tranquillity of the morning without feeling the need to be outside and a part of it.
I need to negotiate these periods of life at times as perhaps many of us do and I am sure the sign I am looking for which will snap me out of this lethargy will be apparent to me sooner or later as such mood never takes hold of me for long.
And so I will bid you all farewell for the time being and hope you are getting as much out of this day as you can whether it be at work or home, at business or leisure.
Until next time.
