Facing the hard facts is never easy but the non-appearance of updates isn’t going to cause worlds to collide or rivers to run dry. We won’t face forty days of flood, fire and famine due to the lack of creative output from my brain. I just haven’t been up to it lately.
So as today is the first day of my two week holiday, I am sitting down and putting a few lines here, simply to keep up to date.
Of course there have been a few extenuating circumstances which have seen to my lack of output. Christmas is never an easy time to get a few moments to spare for yourself. There are family commitments to attend to, friends to catch up with and cards sent and presents to be bought, often at the last minute.
It was an special Christmas for us with my step-daughter delivering a new baby boy just into the New Year which has sent a lovely warm wave through all of us. Even myself, a cynical being if ever there was one and a character who is not particularly fond of children, could not help but be captivated by the charms of this little fellow who is indeed a “little ripper” to use some Australian lingo.
So, as you can see, Christmas has been busy and I have hardly had time to sit down and take a few self absorbed moments to engage in my own selfish pursuits.
And so the sands run out of the hour glass and time is called on 2013 year and we have opened our account for 2014. The road ahead is open and we will be counting those mile posts quickly and before we know it we will be well into the year and that bewildering feeling will come over us as we wonder where the hell time has gone.
I hope that highway is paved with gold for all those who take the time to read this blog and does not turn out to be a highway to hell.
Here’s hoping.
