A Sniff of Summer/Last Spring Check In

It’s been a long time between drinks-almost a month in fact since my last entry and I am feeling as if I am neglecting my blog and letting it die an awful death. In fact my days have been quite hectic lately and any thought of jotting down a few notes has quickly been washed away by the high tide of life and all the hassles that come with it.

It is the 25th of November today and for those who haven’t worked it out already that means it is exactly one month until Christmas-a thought which may be a dream to some and a nightmare to others.

For me it is a time of mixed emotions. It is a month until I am on five weeks leave but I have to battle through our busiest part of the year at work with all the uncertainties which face us in the coming year looming large. Not a pleasant time but at least there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Linda has finished her chemotherapy and after a month of being procedure-free has begun her radiation therapy which will last everyday excepting weekends until the 30th of December. That is a greater pot of gold awaiting her than I can even comprehend. Cancer free and a bright new world to look forward to in 2016.

2015, to quote Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, has been an “annus horribilis” for us with all the uncertainties, grief and stress associated with her illness and other family matters which can cause consternation cutting into the seams of our normally plaid and pleasant life. When the hammer falls at midnight on December 31 we will probably be two of the happiest people in Canberra!

It is warming up and the days have lengthened and the hot westerlies have kicked in and the fire danger is sky-rocketing. Summer in Australia is rolling around again and the festive season is on it’s way. Hope you all take time out to enjoy it.

I shall bid adieu for now and will surely be back before the Christmas lights are bright with a more incisive post and a more interesting take on my life. Until then, have fun and take care.
