Friday on my Mind

Phew! Friday at last. Even though I had a day off during the week it felt like trying to summit Everest just to get here. Of course it’s not over. I’ve got that last couple of hundred metres to make it to the summit. And it will take me eight hours. Aaarrgghh!

Every week feels the same lately. Monotony and boredom is killing me. I start work on Wednesday and it feels like I have been stuck in the same place for weeks. Linda and I are in the process of buying an investment property and she remarked to friends jokingly last weekend that she didn’t know how we would pay for it. I answered, half seriously, that I did. By me being stuck on a Barcode Sorter for the rest of my working days! Sad but true.

I do have something coming up which will break the monotony for a few days. I agreed to do forklift training. We are short of forklift drivers at work and they were canvassing for someone to train and I initially baulked at the suggestion. I hate doing any sort of training like that. I get nervous, I’m not great with powered equipment at the best of times and they get you to do things you really don’t want to do. The little operations manager said to me that it might help me if I ever wanted to leave (not that they think I could get a job anywhere else!). Little does he know that is the only reason I agreed to do it! Who knows. A forklift license could come in handy. Someone looking for a storeman with a skill like that could scoop me up. I’m getting desperate to do something new so I am stepping outside my comfort zone. I have just filled out the paperwork and will hand it in today. Wish me luck!

So, I have had a few things happening and although none of it is exciting it is merely the facts of life getting in the way of planning other adventures..

One more day of hard graft to go and I have two days off bring it on!

Have a nice weekend.
